Howdy!

Were you active in your high school’s choir or another musical group? Better yet, do you love to sing? Consider joining the Texas A&M Women’s Chorus! We’d love to have you.

The Texas A&M Women’s Chorus is looking to add to our group starting this fall. We are a recognized student organization that meets Monday through Thursday for rehearsals at the Music Activities Center (MAC) on campus. Throughout the semester, we perform locally throughout the Bryan/College Station area, as well as at our annual fall and Christmas concerts. Some highlights of the spring semester include our Singing Valentines fundraiser, as well as our Spring Tour. In recent years, destinations have included the DFW metroplex and the Houston area. Besides daily rehearsals and frequent performances, we all become great friends with a shared passion for music.

Traditionally, all groups within the Choral Activities Department hold auditions during New Student Conferences (May-August). Due to the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the spread of COVID-19, all NSCs this summer will be held online, as will our auditions. Despite these rearrangements, we hope to have as many who are interested audition for Mr. Angel, director of the Women’s Chorus. The audition will consist of a simple sight reading piece as well as singing “My Country, Tis of Thee” and some vocalization. Auditions will start in May and continue through Howdy Week in August. We are currently selling Singing Valentine’s for the 2018 Valentine’s season! Come stop by our booth in the MSC 12th Man hallway, call our office phone at 979-845-5974, or come to our office in the Choral Activities office, across from the MAC Resource store, to order a valentine for a loved one or a friend you wish to embarrass during class. On-campus valentines are $20, off-campus valentines are $25, and phone orders are only $10! Each in-person delivery comes with a bag of candy, a card, and flowers, so come see us and order one today! 

We are taking orders until the day before the delivery, and we are delivering the valentine’s from February 11th – February 14th!

Holiday Season of Aggieland concert is this Sunday, December 3 in Rudder Auditorium at 3:00 PM! All three choirs are performing at this concert. It’ll be really fun so please come! Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 the day of the concert, and can be purchased at the Box Office in Rudder or online at boxoffice.tamu.edu. Student tickets are FREE with a student ID! Let’s celebrate this holiday season with some fantastic music!

 Fall 2017 Women’s Chorus Auditions

When:

During New Student Conferences, Howdy (Gig’em) Week and the first week of classes

Audition consists of:

    * a simple sight reading piece

    * singing My Country Tis of Thee

    * vocalization

Come by the Choral Activities Office on the lower level of the Memorial Student Center (MSC), call (979)-845-5974 or email [email protected] to sign up for a time to audition. When you’re done singing, we’ll call you and schedule an interview with our officer board for a later time. Don’t sweat it, we’re nice folks.

Yes, we are a choir by name, but we are so much more than just a musical outlet for our members. As Aggies, we naturally have our own set of traditions that make us a unique group on campus. We also have numerous social events that give everyone a chance to hang out and get to know each other better. When you join Women’s Chorus, you make 60 instant friends. Don’t believe us? We dare you to come audition. You’ll make lifelong friends AND wonderful music, we guarantee it.

Keep in mind that rehearsals are MANDATORY (but SUPER fun).

The rehearsal times for Fall 2017 will be:

• Monday/Wednesday: 10:20-11:10 a.m.
• Tuesday/Thursday: 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Texas A&M’s Women’s Chorus will have having a concert on April 22, 2016 at 7:30in Rudder Theater!
